Let's talk about the small bedroom and how to make it functional and a cozy sanctuary at the same time. Small doesn't mean your bedroom needs to lack being beautiful. There are no short cuts to achieve your functional AND beautiful boudoir.
Queen size beds are still a thing! You don't want to take up too much space with a California King, leaving very little space for night stands. Speaking of night stands, add table lamps on each one. It's a nice way to add scale and symmetry.
Adding Ottomans as extra storage in front of your bed can be decorative and functional. No one needs to know there's "stuff" in your ottomans.
Here's a good one... We're talking about small bedrooms, right? Chances are you don't have a lot of windows, and it can feel a bit claustrophobic. Remember, we're creating cozy not suffocation! Create the illusion of a window by adding drapery with a curtain rod behind your bed. It's a great way to layer the room in a cohesive way. You'll begin to feel like a Queen (or King) in no time!
We could be pushing it, but if there's just enough space in a corner, create a reading nook. An upholstered chair or chaise adds the "CO in the ZY" in your bedroom.
More is more when it comes to pillows. A pair of euro shames (26" x 26"), standard queen pillows (I go for the gusto with 4 standard pillows, but you can keep it simple with 2 if you'd like. Add in monogram shams, too. What heck... This is your castle!), and to finish add a center throw pillow, or two, to finish the look.
What are some of your small bedroom challenges?
